Malaysia hub FAQ

What happens if my attendance drops below 80%?

EMGS and Malaysian Immigration enforce a strict 80% minimum. Below that your student pass renewal can be refused — inform your institution and EMGS early if you have documented medical absences.

Can my employer deduct the PLKS levy from my wages?

No. Employment Act Section 60I makes the employer legally responsible for 100% of the permit levy. Wage deduction for levy is illegal — you can report it to the Labour Department.

How early should I renew my student pass?

Start through your institution 6–8 weeks before expiry, with at least 12 months of passport validity remaining and a clean FOMEMA medical on file.
