Bangla → Gregorian
How it works
This converter follows the official revised Bangladesh Bangla calendar, in use since Boishakh 1426. Pohela Boishakh (Bangla New Year) falls on 14 April every Gregorian year.
The first five months (Boishakh to Bhadra) have 31 days and the remaining seven have 30, except Falgun, which has 31 days whenever the February inside the Bangla year is a leap February.
All arithmetic is done on calendar dates in UTC, so conversions are exact for any date from the year 1600 onwards.
West Bengal follows the astronomical Panjika, whose dates usually run one day behind the revised Bangladesh calendar — Pohela Boishakh falls on 15 April in Kolkata versus 14 April in Dhaka. The West Bengal mode approximates this with a one-day shift; for pujas and religious events confirm with a printed Panjika.
Frequently asked questions
What is today's Bangla date?
Enter today's date in the box above (it is filled in for you) and press Convert. The result shows the day, Bangla month, Bangabda year and the season, in English and Bangla numerals.
When does the Bangla year change?
The Bangla New Year, Pohela Boishakh, is celebrated on 14 April every year under the official Bangladesh revision. So Boishakh 1 always falls on 14 April.
Why does Falgun sometimes have 30 and sometimes 31 days?
Under the revised calendar Falgun carries the leap day. When the February inside that Bangla year is a Gregorian leap February, Falgun has 31 days; otherwise 30.
Is this the Bangladesh calendar or the West Bengal one?
This tool follows the revised calendar officially used in Bangladesh since 2019. The traditional calendar used in West Bengal starts the year at a slightly different time, so dates near Pohela Boishakh can differ by a day.
