Passport retention is a criminal offense
Section 12(1)(f) of the Malaysian Passports Act 1966 makes it an offense for employers or agents to withhold your passport. Never hand the original to unauthorized sub-agents — keep verified digital credentials in your Ami Probashi (আমি প্রবাসী) citizen vault.
