About this tool
This calculator applies Article 51 of Kuwait Labour Law No. 6 of 2010 to your basic salary and completed service. A day equals basic salary / 30, the convention used for end-of-service awards; the first five years earn 15 days per year, and every year beyond five earns a full month, with the post-five-year portion capped at 18 months. When you resign instead of being terminated, the tiers apply: no indemnity under 3 years, half from 3 to 5 years, two-thirds from 5 to 10 years, and the full amount beyond 10 years. Your contract may promise more than this statutory minimum — never less. The taka conversion uses an indicative dinar rate and adds the 2.5% wage-earner incentive for money remitted through formal channels.
Frequently asked questions
What is the 18-month cap on Kuwait indemnity?
The one-month-per-year portion earned after the first five years is capped at 18 months of basic wage in total, so very long service counts up to that limit.
Does the indemnity include my food and transport allowances?
No — Article 51 is calculated on basic wage only. Allowances can be included only if your contract explicitly says so.
Do I get indemnity if I resign after 4 years?
Yes, half: with 3–5 years of service a resignation pays 50% of the full Article 51 amount. Under 3 years, a resignation pays nothing.
Is the indemnity paid in dinars or taka?
Always in dinars in Kuwait — the taka figure here is only an indicative conversion to help you plan what remitting it home would yield with the 2.5% incentive.
